Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has initiated legal proceedings against three businesses accused of defrauding consumers. The lawsuits target companies in different counties, each alleged to have engaged in deceptive practices.
“Consumer protection lawsuits not only allow my office to recoup money for hard-working consumers,” Yost stated, “but also send a clear message to shady businesses that deceptive practices are a no-go in Ohio.”
The first case involves Marioth Custom Construction, based in Sunbury. Attorney General Yost alleges that the company and its owner, Shawn Marioth, repeatedly delayed remodeling services for five customers who had paid a total of $44,588.
In Cincinnati, Weapon X Motorsports and its owner Benjamin Herndon face accusations of failing to deliver car parts and other items. Nine customers reportedly lost a total of $12,845.71 due to unfulfilled orders.
The third lawsuit targets TS Relief Group and TS Holding Unlimited from New Jersey. These companies claim to offer solutions for timeshare scams but are accused of using similar high-pressure tactics and misrepresentations. According to Yost’s lawsuit, TS sales representatives misrepresented their services’ effectiveness and timing during meetings with consumers and subsequently failed to deliver or respond to follow-up inquiries. Seven consumers reported losing a combined $68,239.
The Attorney General’s Office is seeking restitution for those affected by these alleged dishonest practices along with civil penalties and injunctive relief.
