Ohio Department of Agriculture seeks public input on Dalton Cattle Company’s permit renewal

A draft Permit to Operate (PTO) renewal has been issued for Dalton Cattle Company, LLC. The Ohio Department of Agriculture (ODA) is accepting comments on this draft permit for the facility located at 6047 Auster Road, Wakeman, Ohio. The location falls within Huron County’s Wakeman Township and the Huron-Vermillion Watershed.

The PTO, if finalized, will be valid for five years. Interested parties can obtain a copy of the draft permit by submitting a public records request through the ODA’s website: https://agri.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/oda/divisions/legal-office/public-records-site-area.

Public comments and requests for a meeting regarding the draft permit must be submitted in writing by November 10, 2025. Comments can be mailed to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, Division of Livestock Environmental Permitting at 8995 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio or emailed to lepp@agri.ohio.gov. Submissions received after this deadline will not be considered.

According to OAC 901:10-6-04(C), a public meeting will be held if required and may occur as authorized by OAC 901:10-6-01(D). Participants have the right to provide written or oral statements during such meetings if they are scheduled.

The Division of Livestock Environmental Permitting maintains lists for interested parties in each Ohio county and statewide for notifications about all draft permits. To join these lists, individuals can email lepp@agri.ohio.gov or call 614-387-0470.
