The Ohio Department of Transportation District 11 announced that area schools and vocational groups are invited to participate in its annual Paint-the-Plow contest. Applications for the program will be accepted until Friday, March 13.
The contest is open to schools and vocational school groups within the nine-county region of Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Holmes, Jefferson, and Tuscarawas Counties. According to the department, applications have been sent to all eligible schools.
Participating schools will receive plow blades during the week of March 16. The painted blades will be picked up by May 1. Winners will be announced through media outlets and on ODOT District 11 social media channels in late May.
The Paint-the-Plow program gives students an opportunity to paint an ODOT snowplow blade. These blades are displayed at local community events before being used in regular winter operations, typically within the same school district that painted them. This year’s theme encourages participants to create designs that honor America’s 250th anniversary.
For more information about the contest or how to participate, interested parties can contact ODOT District 11’s public information office at 330-308-7817 or d11.pio@dot.ohio.gov. Additional details are available according to the official roster page.
