The Ohio Department of Transportation District 2 announced on March 16 that it is accepting applications for its annual Paint-the-Plow contest until Friday, April 3.
The contest is open to high schools and vocational schools within ODOT District 2’s nine-county region, which includes Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Wood and Williams counties. Applications and contest guidelines have been sent to school administration.
According to the announcement, plow blades will be delivered to participating schools during the week of April 13 and picked up the week of May 11. The designs created by students will be shared on ODOT District 2’s Facebook page where the public may vote for their favorite. Winners will be announced in May by news release and on the district’s Facebook page.
The Paint-the-Plow program allows students to paint an ODOT snowplow blade which may be displayed at local community events. In recognition of America’s 250th birthday this year, participants are encouraged to create designs that honor the nation or recognize Ohio’s national contributions. Students may also create designs featuring a safety message or pride in their school or state.
