The 2025 Ohio sales tax holiday is set to extend over two weeks, beginning at midnight on August 1 and concluding at 11:50 p.m. on August 14. During this period, shoppers can purchase qualifying items both in-store and online without incurring state sales tax.
This year, the exemption covers all eligible items up to $500, a change from previous limits of $20 per item for instructional materials or school supplies and $75 maximum per clothing item.
However, the tax holiday does not include motor vehicles, watercraft, outboard motors, alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, or vapor products. Additionally, services such as car repairs and clothing alterations remain taxable.
