Highways in Ohio are expected to be busy this Thanksgiving as many travelers hit the road. The American Automobile Association (AAA) forecasts a record number of Americans will travel over 50 miles from home, with most opting to drive.

The Ohio Department Of Transportation’s (ODOT) Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO) program has analyzed past Thanksgiving data to determine the best and worst times for travel during this peak period. Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead by using OHGO, Ohio’s official travel portal. This resource provides access to over 1,200 traffic cameras, live traffic alerts, speed maps, weather sensors, and information on construction projects.

Despite efforts by ODOT to minimize work zones during holiday travel periods, some areas will still have ongoing construction. Notable work zones include I-70 west through and east of Columbus and in Zanesville, as well as on I-75 in the Cincinnati and Dayton metropolitan areas.
