The Ohio House GOP has announced the observance of Manufacturing Month in October, highlighting Ohio’s status as a national leader in manufacturing jobs. The announcement also promotes a video message from Representatives Marilyn John and Nick Santucci on efforts to grow the industry.

According to the Ohio House GOP, Manufacturing Month acknowledges the state’s historic and ongoing leadership in industrial production and advanced manufacturing. The announcement emphasizes the roles of Representatives John and Santucci, who are members of legislative committees focused on economic development, workforce expansion, and industry innovation. This initiative underscores Ohio’s bipartisan commitment to expanding skilled labor pipelines and supporting regional manufacturers that are crucial to the state’s economy.

The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) reports that Ohio ranks third nationally in manufacturing employment, with over 690,000 workers employed across more than 12,000 manufacturing facilities statewide. The OMA states that manufacturing contributes approximately $134 billion annually to Ohio’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP), accounting for nearly 17% of total state output. These figures indicate the state’s growing competitiveness as companies invest in advanced manufacturing, automotive, and aerospace innovation.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) notes that Ohio’s manufacturing sector has experienced steady post-pandemic recovery, adding nearly 25,000 jobs between 2022 and 2024. BLS data show that manufacturing accounts for about one in eight private-sector jobs in Ohio, making it one of the most significant employment sectors in the state. Investments in automation, workforce training, and domestic supply chain resilience have bolstered Ohio’s strong manufacturing base.

According to its official website, the Ohio House GOP represents the Republican majority in the Ohio House of Representatives. It advocates for pro-growth economic policies, workforce development, and fiscal responsibility. The caucus uses initiatives such as Message from the House to communicate legislative priorities and highlight members’ work supporting key industries like manufacturing. Its mission is centered on creating conditions that strengthen Ohio’s economy and promote opportunities for working families statewide.
