Greg R. Lawson, a research fellow at The Buckeye Institute, expressed his support following the signing of Ohio Senate Bill 1 into law by Governor Mike DeWine. The bill, which aims to reform Ohio’s higher education system, has been described as one of the most significant changes in the past 25 years.

Lawson stated, “The Buckeye Institute applauds the Ohio General Assembly—especially Senator Jerry Cirino—and Governor Mike DeWine for passing and signing one of the most needed and sweeping reforms of Ohio’s higher education system in a quarter of a century.” Senate Bill 1 is designed to promote a diverse intellectual environment for students, improve accountability among faculty, and reduce administrative overhead. Lawson emphasized the importance of these reforms, calling them long overdue and crucial for focusing on the employment of graduating students.
