The OneOhio Recovery Foundation has opened a new round of opioid settlement grant funding, offering up to $45.7 million to organizations working on prevention, treatment, and recovery programs in Ohio. State Representative Jamie Callender (R-Concord) announced the initiative, which is part of the Foundation’s ongoing effort to address substance use disorders statewide.
This second regional grant cycle follows an earlier round that distributed over $45 million to more than 240 projects across 19 regions in Ohio. The previous grants supported efforts such as youth prevention programs, mental health services in schools, recovery housing, expanded treatment options, outreach following overdoses, and workforce development in behavioral health.
In the first cycle, Region 13—which includes Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, and Portage Counties—received just over $2.25 million for 12 projects. For this new cycle, Region 13 will have $2.16 million available for local initiatives. The application period runs from January 14 through February 11.
“The wounds caused by the opioid epidemic remain visible across numerous communities in Northeast Ohio,” said Callender. “While we cannot bring back those lost to the epidemic, we can assist those currently suffering through addiction get their lives back on track and prevent future losses to addiction.”
The OneOhio Recovery Foundation was created by state and local leaders as a nonprofit organization responsible for distributing 55 percent of Ohio’s share of funds from the national pharmaceutical Distributor settlement related to the opioid crisis. The Foundation collaborates with local partners to support prevention, treatment, and recovery programs now and into the future.
