Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team achieved a program milestone on Sunday, defeating Lourdes University 104-76 at the Stroh Center. Junior Paige Kohler recorded the first triple-double in the team’s history, finishing with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists for the Falcons, who now hold a 6-4 record.

Kohler was joined by junior Joniyah Bland-Fitzpatrick, who also scored 17 points while shooting six-for-seven from the field. Redshirt junior Jasmine Fearne and sophomore Lauren Gerken each contributed 16 points to the win.

Lourdes University’s Emma Pedroza led all scorers with 32 points, while Kaylona Butler added 25. The game served as an exhibition for Lourdes, which remains undefeated in its regular season at 9-0.

The Gray Wolves held a narrow lead after the first quarter but Bowling Green responded with a strong finish to the half, outscoring Lourdes by fifteen points before halftime. The Falcons continued to extend their advantage throughout the second half. Emily Siesel’s three-pointer early in the third quarter pushed Bowling Green’s lead past twenty points. Later in that period, Kohler increased it to thirty with a putback basket. Jaedyn Cook’s layup gave Bowling Green its largest margin of thirty-nine points midway through the fourth quarter before Lourdes closed on a late run.

Kaia Woods and Ky’Aira Miller both finished with nine points; Woods also tallied six assists, five rebounds and five steals—leading all players in that category. Siesel and Cook each added six points off the bench; Cook collected eight rebounds.

Bowling Green outrebounded Lourdes by sixteen overall and had a decisive edge over the final three quarters of play.

The Falcons shot just over fifty-seven percent from the field during Sunday’s contest.

“In the first 200 games the Falcons played at the Stroh Center, BGSU never scored more than 102 points in a contest. Now, BG has surpassed that total in three consecutive games in the building,” according to information provided by Bowling Green State University Athletics staff. “The Falcons had 103 points vs. Kentucky State on Nov. 3, setting a new arena record for points in a game. Then, four days later, BGSU shattered that four-day-old record with 118 points against Defiance.”

“On Sunday, BG scored 104 points vs. the Gray Wolves, marking the Falcons’ third-straight triple-digit scoring game,” they stated.

BGSU has now scored at least one hundred points in three straight games for only the second time in school history—the last such streak occurred during January and February of 1988.

Bowling Green will continue its current homestand Tuesday morning against Le Moyne as part of its annual “School Day” event before starting Mid-American Conference play Saturday versus Kent State at home.
