Crews will begin re-striping North Bridge Street in Chillicothe on Tuesday, November 18. The work will occur between North Plaza Boulevard and the entrance to the Chillicothe Mall/Zane Plaza. This project aims to increase traffic capacity ahead of the holiday season.

“When we first announced this transformative improvement project, we promised to pause construction and get out of the way by Thanksgiving,” said Mike Dombrowski, Deputy Director of Ohio Department of Transportation District 9. “We have worked with our contractor, Complete General, to meet this goal. We appreciate everyone’s patience during this first year of the project.”

Pavement markings can only be applied when temperatures are above 40 degrees, necessitating daytime work. Motorists should anticipate delays and lane closures during this period. Alternative routes include SR 104/SR 207 and U.S. 23. Weather permitting, the re-striping is expected to conclude by the end of next week.

Upon completion, there will be an additional northbound lane through the corridor, resulting in three lanes in both directions. All turn lanes will be open, and the connector from Marietta Road to North Plaza Boulevard will be accessible. The roundabout on Consumer Center Drive will also become fully operational, improving traffic flow around Kohl’s and Walmart.

“While things are opening, the project is not yet complete, and we do expect there to continue to be some delays. However, North Bridge Street should operate much better than it did over the summer,” Dombrowski added.

Motorists are advised not to enter signalized intersections until they can safely clear them to avoid causing further delays along this busy corridor. The next phase of the project is slated for early 2026 with completion targeted for 2027.
