The Realtor Alliance of Greater Cincinnati announced on Apr. 1 a partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati to support the annual Real Estate Community Build, aiming to help families in the region achieve homeownership. The alliance committed to match up to $10,000 in donations from members and brokerages, effectively doubling contributions made toward this initiative.

This effort comes as communities in Cincinnati and surrounding areas face increasing challenges related to housing affordability. Rising construction costs and limited inventory have made it harder for working families to buy homes. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between what it costs to build a home and what local families can afford.

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Cincinnati’s Affordable Homeownership Program offers opportunities for first-time buyers by constructing modest starter homes, partnering with buyers who help build their own houses alongside volunteers, providing zero-percent interest mortgages without down payments, and offering financial education as well as home maintenance training. Due to higher material and labor expenses, community-driven efforts like this are considered essential.

The Real Estate Community Build will bring together real estate professionals across the industry on June 17 and June 25 at 829 Ludlow St., Hamilton, Ohio. Volunteers can participate during two daily shifts but must register by Monday, June 15 through Habitat’s Volunteer Hub. Participation is limited to ten individuals per shift.

According to the official website, the Cincinnati Area Board of Realtors engages in charitable activities throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky while providing advocacy, education, networking opportunities, professional development courses, market data resources, legal support for real estate professionals, and representing their interests in legislative matters.

Organizers say that joining this project not only supports affordable housing but also provides team-building experiences that strengthen internal engagement within organizations. The matching donation commitment is intended as an incentive for broader participation from both individuals and businesses.
