State Representative Cindy Abrams announced on May 4 that two elementary schools in Ohio’s 29th House District have been recognized as 2026 Science of Reading Champions by Governor Mike DeWine and the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
The recognition was given to schools demonstrating a strong commitment to the Science of Reading, an instructional approach focused on helping students learn how to sound out and understand words. The honored schools from the district are Mt. Healthy Early Learning Center and Mt. Healthy North Elementary School, both located in Cincinnati.
Abrams attended a recent Mt. Healthy Board of Education meeting where she presented a commendation to the educators at these schools for their efforts leading to this achievement. “Early literacy is critical to the development and success of our children,” said Abrams. “I’m proud to recognize Mt.
