Jon Husted, U.S. Senator from Ohio, announced he will not accept his salary during the ongoing government shutdown. In a statement, Husted said, “Since the Democrats chose to play politics at the expense of the American people, we’re currently in a government shutdown. With that, I am refusing to take a paycheck until Congress funds the government. I cannot accept pay while millions of federal employees and countless federal services wait for Congress to do its job. I’m going to work around the clock until we get the government working for Americans again.”
Husted’s decision comes as federal operations are halted and many government workers are not receiving pay due to the budget impasse in Congress. The senator emphasized his commitment to resolving the situation and restoring government services.
