State Senator Nathan Manning announced on April 28 that the Office of Budget and Management Director has released capital funds to support necessary renovations at Lorain Safe Harbor.
The funding is intended to help Lorain County Safe Harbor continue providing services to victims of domestic violence in the area. According to Manning, “This funding will allow Lorain County Safe Harbor to continue its mission of providing support to victims of domestic violence in Lorain County. I’m grateful to see these funds distributed to ensure the completion of these renovation projects. I look forward to the continued work Safe Harbor will be able to accomplish as a result of these funds.”
Lorain County Safe Harbor offers outreach and crisis services with comprehensive support for survivors and their families, including around-the-clock on-site assistance tailored for clients in Lorain County. The new funding will go toward renovating a roof and parking lot at the community outreach facility, replacing the driveway at the emergency crisis shelter, and paving a new parking lot at the child advocacy center.
As part of receiving state support, Lorain County Safe Harbor has agreed to provide services at this location for twenty years. The Department of Behavioral Health has secured this investment with a contract, a twenty-year forgivable mortgage, and note prior to any disbursement.
Manning has worked on fostering second chance opportunities and protecting vulnerable populations according to his official Senate biography. He supported bipartisan measures aimed at safeguarding Ohioans, enhancing public safety, and promoting criminal justice reforms according to his official Senate biography.
