State Representative Jim Hoops (R-Napoleon) recognized the Millcreek West Unity FFA Chapter with a commendation on April 20, celebrating the chapter’s 90th anniversary.
The recognition highlights the role of agricultural education and community involvement in Ohio. The FFA is a national organization that prepares students for leadership and careers in agriculture, which remains an important industry in the state.
“I was thrilled to celebrate this important milestone for all FFA students and their families of West Unity Local Schools,” Hoops said. “These students are our future in the community, and the work they do for agriculture remains crucial now more than ever throughout my district and the state.”
Hoops attended the anniversary event at Hilltop High School this past Saturday. He has also engaged in community service through volunteering with United Way of Henry County, according to the official website. In addition to his legislative duties, he has served on boards such as the Henry County Senior Center and Henry County Humane Society, as reported by his official biography.
Hoops represents Ohio’s 81st House District—which includes Fulton, Williams, Henry, and parts of Defiance counties—and chairs the House Development Committee while serving on additional panels. He has a background in finance and previously contributed to power plant projects as well as various community efforts. He held an earlier term in the Ohio House from 1999 to 2006 according to his official profile.
He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1977 before earning a bachelor’s degree from Northwest State Community College as noted by official records. Hoops lives with his wife Deb; they have a daughter Erica, son-in-law Ross, and grandson Hudson according to biographical information.
