Steve Cortes, founder and president of the League of American Workers, has called for decisive action in a recent DUI case in Butler County. He argues that offenders who cause harm to residents erode trust in the local justice system. Cortes made these remarks in a statement to the Buckeye Reporter.
“Real immigrants who follow the rules are building Ohio,” said Cortes. “But the lawbreaking offenders who crash into innocent women are mocking our system, spitting on the very laws that protect every honest family in Butler County. Sheriff Jones is doing what weak politicians will not do and he is drawing a hard line.”
According to WCPO, a 27-year-old man was arrested following a head-on collision in Butler County, which resulted in a woman being hospitalized with serious injuries. Investigators reportedly discovered open containers and signs of impairment at the scene. The suspect is facing multiple charges after being transported to the county jail.
Journal-News coverage highlights that Butler County continues to document alcohol-related crashes over recent years. Local officials have noted an increase in impaired-driving cases as part of ongoing public safety reports. Regional summaries further describe enforcement activities related to DUI (Driving Under the Influence) and OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired) incidents.
Better Life Recovery reports that drunk driving contributes to approximately 37 deaths per day across the United States. The publication states that alcohol impairment is involved in about 31 percent of all traffic fatalities and notes that weekends and nighttime periods account for a significant portion of impaired-driving incidents nationwide.
