Amherst home prices rise in the first half of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2017 in Amherst rose by $3,500 while total sales increased by 30.5%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June of 2017, there were 124 homes sold, with a median sale price of $142,500 - a 2.5% increase over the $139,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 95 homes sold in Amherst in the first half of 2016.

The median sales tax in Amherst for the most recent year with available data, 2015, was $2,489, approximately 1.7% of the median home sale price for the first half of 2017.
