Two Ohio lawmakers are proposing for June 14 to be known as Donald J. Trump Day after more than three million voters supported Trump during the election.
“Let’s show the 3,154,834 Ohio voters (a record and a historic number of votes received for president in Ohio) who cast their ballot to re-elect Donald J. Trump that we as a legislature recognize the accomplishments of his administration and that the Ohio House believes it is imperative we set aside a day to celebrate one of the greatest presidents in American history,” State Reps. Jon Cross (R-Kenton) and Reggie Stoltzfus (R-Paris Twp.) wrote in a memorandum to all House members, The Epoch Times reported.
They hailed Trump for the reforms he made during his tenure. These include the MAGA (Make America Great Again) movement and significant changes to the party as a whole.
The former president recently agreed with U.S. House Republican leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to help the GOP become a majority in the House.
“Today, President Trump committed to helping elect Republicans in the House and Senate in 2022. A united conservative movement will strengthen the bonds of our citizens and uphold the freedoms our country was founded on," McCarthy said in a statement, as reported by the Epoch Times. This was after a meeting held at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach on Jan. 28.
It is yet to be established whether the proposal will be adopted by the whole Ohio state House. Republicans dominate the House with a 64-35 majority against their Democratic rivals.
