Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green) expressed the importance of prioritizing jobs, the economy and having no “problem reaching across the aisle to find common ground on the issues affecting Americans.”
Reviewing President Joe Biden’s nearly one month of his presidency, Latta said that Biden has threatened the country’s energy security, has been acting in a partisan manner, and has endangered economic stability.
Latta said the president has also sacrificed American jobs in the oil and gas industries which would trigger increasing costs to consumers, and threaten " ... the $11.7 billion tax revenue stream that goes to fund critical health care and educational programs at the federal, state, local and tribal levels.”
“If the goal of this administration is to unify the nation, then it must put jobs, the economy, and sound environmental policies first,” he continued. “Unilateral actions that would put Americans out of work and undermine American energy security cannot be the way forward.”
During Biden’s inaugural speech, Latta said he was pleased to hear the president saying he wanted to work with the Republicans.
“He emphasized the need for unity, bipartisan work, and it seemed to hit all of the right notes. Unfortunately, in the weeks since, the actions of the Biden/Harris administration have not lived up to the rhetoric he espoused on Inauguration Day,” Latta stated in his column in The Courier.
