U.S. Rep. Warren Davidson (R-OH) recently joined more than 40 Republican lawmakers as a co-sponsor of Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks' HR 4792, known as the Countering Communist China Act.

“To counter the malign influence and theft perpetuated by the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Communist Party,” the bill reads.

In July, Banks filed the Countering Communist China Act as an alternative to a proposed anti-China bill drafted by Democrats.

The legislation contains measures aiming to protect U.S. businesses and citizens from Chinese overreach and influence. It would prohibit the United Front Work Department – China’s political ops arm – from accessing U.S. financial institutions and would create new sanctions on Chinese companies that steal US intellectual property, including prohibiting them from transacting again with a U.S. person, according to a press release from RSC.

Rep. Ashley Hinson’s (R-IA) Red Tape Reduction Act is included in Bank’s bill, which would codify five of former President Donald Trump's "pro-business" executive orders aimed at deregulation. Included are a requirement to eliminate two existing regulations for every new one proposed, requiring congressional approval for binding rules and requiring agencies to find a way to reduce spending when they propose an increase, according to a press release from Hinson's office.

According to Congress.gov's tracker of HB4762, Davidson is one of the most recent co-sponsors of the bill, giving it his support on Aug. 31.

Davidson, who represents Ohio's 8th District, was elected in 2016.
