The West Carrollton School District has made the decision to make mask wearing optional for students and staff while in the buildings effective Tuesday, February 22. There will be some stipulations dependent on having a positive case or returning from quarantine.
A federal mask mandate remains in effect through March 18 for students and staff using school transportation including district buses and vans.
MASKS
— A federal mandate requires that staff and students must wear a face mask when riding on district-owned buses or vans until March 18. This timeline may change and we will follow any local, state and/or federal recommendations. This includes transportation to and from school as well as extra-curricular events and field trips.
— The decision to wear or not wear a mask while in school buildings will be up to the individual staff member and for parents/guardians to make for their student(s).
— Parents/guardians who want their child to wear a mask must communicate that expectation to their child.
— Staff will not be responsible for monitoring student mask wearing.
QUARANTINES
— Students who test positive will be quarantined for ten (10) days from school.
SPORTS
— The test to play guidelines currently in place will remain the same.
— Masks will not be required for athletes.
As always, students and visitors should not come to school if not feeling well or have a fever of a 100.4 or higher. Working together, we can have a safe, respectful and responsible school year as well as a healthy one!
