Upcoming ACT test for all AHS Juniors March 16th, 8 am - 12:30 pm

Below is information about  the upcoming ACT Test that we will be giving to all juniors at AHS.

  • Who: All AHS Juniors (Juniors who attend Tri-County Career Center (TCCC) will take the ACT at TCCC on a date that will be determined by TCCC)
  • What: The ACT online (without Writing) 
  • Where: The AHS Gymnasium and assigned testing rooms
  • When: Wednesday, March 16th; 8:00am-12:30pm (approximately)
  • Why: To fulfill an option for graduation and prepare for the college admissions process.  
  • Cost: FREE
If a student is absent on March 16th, they will have an opportunity to make-up the exam on one of the following dates: March 17th, 22nd, 23rd and 24th.

**If you are participating in CC+ courses, please make arrangements with your professors/instructors for this date and time so that you can participate in the entire test session.

You may be exempt from taking this exam IF:

  • You have “Remediation Free” scores from a previous ACT on file at Athens High School. If you have not submitted these scores to us, you will need to include a verifiable copy of your score report to the guidance office NO LATER THAN FRIDAY FEBRUARY 25th. You must also have a written and signed statement from your parent or guardian  indicating that they wish for you not to take the ACT for free with us.
  • Remediation Free Scores for the ACT are: 
  • English – 18
  • Reading – 22
  • Math - 22
Student Reminders:

  • Students should report directly to the Gymnasium or their assigned testing room between 7:30am and 7:45am on their assigned test day for testing. Please be on time as we cannot admit students who arrive late!
  • All students must wear a mask. Masks must be worn properly and cover students’ mouths AND noses at all times. Masks will NOT be provided and students without masks will not be able to test.
  • All students will remain in their testing rooms until all exam sections are complete.
  • You are only permitted to have a pencil and an approved calculator during this exam. If you have questions regarding the calculator, you may ask your math teacher or visit the ACT Calculator Policy.
  • Students may bring snacks and drinks to consume during break in a designated area. All snacks and drinks must be in closed containers stored away from the testing area.
  • Please leave Phones, personally owned Laptops, Wireless headphones, Smart Watches, Fitness Bands, books and backpacks in your locker or other designated area. These items are not permitted in the testing area..
  • Please bring your school issued Chromebook and make sure it is fully charged. There is no guarantee that we can provide you with a backup. If you opted out of  receiving a Chromebook please let the guidance office know BY FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 25th so that we can get you a Chromebook. Personally owned laptops aren’t permitted.
  • All students must complete non-test information prior to taking the exam. Students will receive more information about completing the non-test information at a later date.
