Today, Ohio Senate minority leader Kenny Yuko (D-Richmond Heights) released the following statement after Republican members of the Ohio Redistricting Commission adopted a congressional map that unduly favors GOP candidates and fails to reflect the statewide preferences of Ohio voters, as required by the Constitution and the Ohio Supreme Court.
“The congressional map adopted by the majority commissioners today continues to gerrymander Ohio’s communities, completely ignoring Ohioans’ demands for fairness. This is unacceptable.
“I’m proud of Senator Sykes and Leader Russo for their leadership on this Commission. They’ve repeatedly stood up for Ohioans by demanding fair, constitutional maps. Unfortunately, the other members of the commission aren’t willing to listen.”
