Today, Ohio Senate Minority Leader Kenny Yuko (D-Richmond Heights) issued the following statement after the Ohio Supreme Court invalidated the newest state legislative maps adopted by majority Commission members on February 24. The Court gave the Commission until March 28 to draw new, constitutional maps:
“The Supreme Court’s ruling has once again made it clear that Republicans cannot get away with gerrymandering our state to give themselves an unfair advantage in the legislature. I’m glad the Commission has another chance to go back to the drawing board. But this time, I hope my colleagues across the aisle will respect the Court’s decision and publicly work together with Democrats to create constitutional maps that more fairly represent Ohio’s communities.”
