Former President Donald Trump shared a clip on Monday from a film that Republican candidate for Ohio Lt. Governor Joe Knopp produced in 2020.
According to a release from the Renacci/Knopp campaign, the clip, from "The Trump I Know," features Knopp interviewing former White House Press Secretary Alyssa Farah recounting the first time she met Trump, and stating she was grateful to work for him in particular.
"He's a remarkable man," Farah said in the clip posted on Twitter. "The more time you spend with him behind closed doors, the more you understand what makes him such a strong leader for our nation."
"I am very close to the Trump Family," Knopp said in a statement. "I have seen first hand what the woke culture has done to President Trump. Disloyal Republicans like Mike DeWine should not be rewarded with another term. Jim Renacci and I will fight for the America First agenda in. We will stop CRT (critical race theory). We will fight for life. We will fight for Ohio families."
A recent poll from the Committee for a Better Ohio shows gubernatorial candidate Renacci leading incumbent Governor DeWine by double digits. Out of the 1,342 likely Republican primary voters surveyed, 46% selected Renacci as their choice for Ohio’s next governor, while 30% supported DeWine.
Renacci is a businessman and former U.S. representative for the 16th Congressional District running against DeWine, a fellow Republican, in the 2022 GOP gubernatorial primary on May 3, Ballotpedia reported. The winner will go on to appear on ballots for the Nov. 8 general election.
Knopp developed a close relationship with the Trump family after spending six months with them filming his 2020 documentary, "The Trump I Know." Knopp has produced three other films: "Woodlawn", "I Can Only Imagine" and "Unplanned". Knopp has a strong Christian faith and is an Air Force veteran, according to Dayton Daily News.
