House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today issued a statement in response to the Ohio Supreme Court decision to invalidate the latest set of legislative district maps. These maps, submitted to the court on May 5 by the Ohio Redistricting Commission’s Republican majority, are identical to the third set of maps the court previously struck down.
“There is no liberty or justice for the people of Ohio when a handful of politicians in power continue to violate the constitution and rig the rules in their own favor – against taxpayers and voters,” said Leader Russo. “This ‘above the law’ arrogance tears at the very fabric of what it means to be American — having your voice heard and your vote count.”
The Court gave the Commission until June 3 to adopt a constitutional map.
