State Senator Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) announced that the Sheffield Village Police Department has been awarded $257,244.84 through the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program.
The Sheffield Village Police Department was one of eight law enforcement agencies receiving grants as part of the second round of the new grant program established by the DeWine Administration and funded through the state operating budget and American Recovery Plan Act (ARPA). Funding from the grant will be used primarily to hire two full-time patrol officers to increase law enforcement presence and enhance public safety.
“Public safety is a priority for every community, and we made it a priority to support the brave first responders that protect and serve our neighborhoods,” said Manning. “I am a proud supporter of the Ohio Violent Crime Reduction Grant Program, and commend Mayor Hunter, Chief Visalden, and the Sheffield Village Police Department for earning this grant.”

In addition to the Sheffield Village Police Department, the Elyria Police Department and Lorain Police Department received funding through the program’s first round of grant announcements in April.
