City Opens Application Process to Fill Vacant Council Seat | Flickr by Jernej Furman
The City of Ashland now has an open application and selection process to fill the vacant seats for City Councilor Position No. 2 and Position No. 3.
In late January 2023, City Councilor, Shaun Moran, resigned from Council. His resignation leaves Position No. 3 vacant. The Council has 60 days to fill this vacancy.
On February 7, the City Council appointed Councilor Tonya Graham to Mayor. Her elevation to Mayor leaves Councilor Position No. 2 vacant. Learn more.
The Council has initiated the application process and will be accepting applications through Tuesday, February 14, 5 p.m. Applications are available at ashland.or.us/CouncilApplication. Applicants may apply to be considered for Postion 2, Position 3 or both.
All applicants must be available for interviews between February 15 to February 20. Interviews will take place in-person or via Zoom with current City Council members.
The Council will make their decision by Monday, February 20. The selected applicant will be appointed at a City Council Meeting in late February, and serve until December 31, 2024.
City Charter requirements for these positions is applicant live within the city limits and be registered to vote. If applicant does not meet these requirements, their application will not be considered.
