Notre Dame College has placed among the top higher education institutions in the US for its online graduate degree in nursing.
The Princeton Review named the College’s online Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) among the Best Online Nursing School Master’s Programs in the country for 2023. The education services company generally uses data like career outcomes, admissions selectivity and academic rigor, among other factors, to determine top graduate programs. The Princeton Review does not award specific rankings to nursing schools.
Notre Dame was among schools ranging from Duke University to the University of Southern California to make the Princeton list. A total of 189 institutions were selected as the best master’s programs in nursing. Nationwide, more than 500 schools of nursing provide about 2,000 different graduate programs for nurses, according to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing.
The MSN at Notre Dame entails 39 credit hours; up to six credits can be accepted via transfer. The cost per credit hour now is $630. Courses are all online and offered in 8-week durations. A full-time student typically can complete the degree in two years. Admissions are rolling, and the next program begins August 28. The Graduate Record Exam (GRE) is not required.
MSN students at the College also complete a 120-hour practicum, gaining real world experience. The program prepares nurses for advanced professional practice as well as to be educators in the field.

Curriculum
The MSN offered by Notre Dame’s Division of Nursing emphasizes leadership, advocacy and ethics and is taught by doctorate-qualified faculty who have worked as clinicians and as educators in college classrooms, among other career experience.
The comprehensive curriculum covers advanced practice in pathophysiology, pharmacology and health assessment. Classes also address research and informatics, health care systems and promotion and learning evaluation, among other topics.
Admissions
Students applying for the online Master of Science in Nursing Education at Notre Dame need to meet the following requirements:
- Hold a baccalaureate degree with an upper division major in nursing from a program accredited by a nationally recognized accreditation authority
- Have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale). Potential candidates may be considered with a 2.75 GPA for provisional acceptance for one term only with specific stipulations.
- Hold a current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in good standing to practice professional nursing in the United States
- Have one year of experience as a registered nurse
