WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) applauded President Biden’s decision to nominate Rebecca Lutzko for the position of U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio. The Northern District serves over 6 million Ohioans in Ohio’s 40 northern most counties in Ohio. It has court locations in Akron, Cleveland, Toledo and Youngstown.

“Ms. Lutzko is an experienced prosecutor and outstanding nominee to serve as U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio,” said Brown. “Throughout her legal career, Ms. Lutzko has put the public’s interest first. She will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to lead the Northern District and I am proud to support her nomination.”

Rebecca C. Lutzko has served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio since 2005.  Ms. Lutzko has held several leadership and line assistant positions in that office, serving as Chief of the Appeals Unit since 2017 and previously serving as Deputy Chief of the Major Fraud and Corruption Unit from 2010 to 2011.  Prior to that, she was an associate at BakerHostetler in Cleveland from 1998 to 2005.  Ms. Lutzko served as a law clerk for Judge Alice M. Batchelder on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit from 1997 to 1998.  She received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1997 and her B.A. from Boston University in 1993.
