5.3% of citizens in Ohio unemployed in 2021

Ohio's unemployment rate hit 5.3% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That's 314,406 people out of the 11,769,923 living in Ohio at the time, according to data U.S. Census Bureau data obtained on Oct. 26, 2023.

The unemployment rate in Ohio has remained fairly stable compared to the 5.3% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in Ohio was nearly equal to the national unemployment rate of 5.5%.

Of the 5,667,239 people who had a job during that time, 10,776 were employed in the Armed Forces and 5,656,463 belonged to the civilian labor force.
