Gun rights advocate, Rob Morse, highlighted the importance of advancing firearm training for gun owners now that the requirement for concealed carry permits has been eliminated in many states. Morse emphasized the need for gun owners to continue their training beyond the basic requirements for concealed carry permits. He pointed out that many gun owners do not pursue advanced firearms classes even though they now have the opportunity to do so without the need for a permit.

Morse discussed various scenarios of armed defense where advanced skills are crucial, such as using cover and concealment, shooting in low light conditions, and understanding legal responsibilities. He stressed the significance of learning self-defense tactics in different situations, including close-quarters combat and handling encounters with intruders at home.

In one of the examples mentioned by Morse, a defender shot an intruder who attacked her in her home and pursued her to the front yard. This type of scenario, Morse noted, is not typically covered in basic firearms safety or concealed carry classes, highlighting the need for gun owners to be well-prepared for such situations.

Morse encouraged gun owners to practice carrying concealed weapons at home, familiarize themselves with legal guidelines, and hone their self-defense skills to be better prepared for emergencies. He acknowledged that while many gun owners express a desire to improve their self-defense skills, not all are willing to invest the time and effort required to maintain those skills.

Concluding his thoughts, Morse expressed hope that the culture of armed defense continues to grow, emphasizing the importance of being responsible ambassadors for civic duty. He encouraged gun owners, both experienced and new, to take up the challenge of advancing their firearm training and self-defense skills.

In his role as a gun rights writer, Morse hosts the Self Defense Gun Stories Podcast and co-hosts the Polite Society Podcast, where he continues to advocate for responsible gun ownership and self-defense practices.
