A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Coshocton County, Ohio, seeking details about vendor payments made from January 1, 2024, to September 26, 2024. The request was made by us at Buckeye Reporter on September 26, 2024.
We requested the following information under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., preferably in an electronic format:
- Vendor Name
- Transaction Date
- Transaction Description
- Amount
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await a response from Coshocton County and will continue our efforts to provide transparency and accountability in local government affairs.
