FOIA Request Sent to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to Dekalb County, Illinois, on September 26, 2024. The request, sent by DeKalb Times, sought detailed information regarding all payments made to vendors from the beginning of the year until the date of the request.

The requested records include specifics such as the vendor's name, transaction date, description of the transaction, and the amount paid. These details are critical for providing comprehensive coverage of local governmental affairs.

As a media organization dedicated to accurate news reporting and public transparency, we at DeKalb Times believe that access to such public records is essential in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. This includes holding public institutions accountable and ensuring that they operate with full transparency.

Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act.

We will continue to work diligently in providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs and maintaining transparency for our readers. We await Dekalb County's response to our FOIA request.
