FOIA Request to Dekalb County Regarding Vendor Payments on September 26, 2024.
In our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at DeKalb Times have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to Dekalb County. The request specifically asks for a list of all payments made to vendors from January 1, 2024, until September 26, 2024.
The information sought includes the name of the vendor, the date of the transaction, a description of the transaction, and the amount paid. As a media organization, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
We believe that as media professionals engaged in disseminating information to the public, we are eligible for a fee waiver for this request. We await a response from Dekalb County and will continue our efforts in ensuring transparency in local government affairs.
