Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost visited Joseph House in Cincinnati to fulfill a promise made earlier this year. The visit marked the unveiling of an accessible van aimed at assisting military veterans dealing with addiction. The initiative stemmed from a conversation in May between Yost and Joseph House Executive Director Alicia Patterson, during which Patterson highlighted the need for such a vehicle.
In response, Yost facilitated a grant of $45,000 from his office and secured matching funds from the Eric B. Yeiser Family Foundation, along with an additional $5,000 from the Northrop Grumman Foundation. "I’m grateful to be able to help Joseph House provide essential services to our veterans," Yost stated. "These men and women sacrificed so much for the rest of us, and we owe it to them to make sure they have the support they need to thrive."
The new van is expected to enhance Joseph House's capacity to transport veterans to necessary counseling, education, and support services. Patterson expressed gratitude for the assistance received: “Our new home in Camp Washington enables in-patient care for veterans with mobility issues for the first time in our history,” she said. “Thanks to the support of Ohio Attorney General Yost and his team, the Eric B. Yeiser Family Foundation and Northrop Grumman we now have an accessible van to help transport these clients to critical appointments and activities on their recovery journey.”
Yost has previously demonstrated commitment to veteran support through his leadership role with the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), where he initiated a theme of "Serving Those Who Serve." This initiative focuses on enhancing how attorneys general across the nation connect returning soldiers with necessary civilian life services.
In Ohio specifically, Yost has advocated for Veterans Response Programs that unite law enforcement, judicial systems, and community resources in supporting struggling veterans.
