FOIA Request Sent to Summit County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Summit County, Ohio, regarding public records on October 7, 2024. We at Buckeye Reporter are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The request was made under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., and we have asked for these records in an electronic format for ease of access and analysis. The specific records requested include a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024. The fields we are interested in are the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.

As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as a media professional.

We will continue to follow up on this request and provide updates as they become available.
