A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Crawford County, Ohio, on October 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Buckeye Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The request was made under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., and we specifically asked for a list of FOIA logs that were sent to the county from January 1, 2024 till October 7, 2024. The requested information includes the requester's name and organization, content of the request, date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
As members of the media committed to holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public, access to these public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe that we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals due to our role in disseminating information.
