FOIA Request Sent to Union County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024

FOIA Request to Union County Regarding Public Records on October 7, 2024.

As part of our ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Buckeye Reporter have sent a request for public records under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., to Union County. The request was made for the county's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) logs from January 1, 2024, through October 7, 2024.

The specific fields requested include the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA. These details are essential in our pursuit of transparency and accountability in public institutions.

Given our role in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals. We await Union County's response to our request and will continue to strive for transparency in all matters related to government affairs.
