A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Perry County, Ohio on October 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Buckeye Reporter, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The records requested under the Ohio Open Records Law, §149.43 et seq., were specifically for FOIA logs sent to Perry County from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. The fields requested in these logs include the requester's name and organization, the content of the request, the date of the request and its completion date, as well as the status of the FOIA.
As a media organization committed to transparency and holding public institutions accountable, we believe that access to these public records is essential for fulfilling our professional responsibilities. We have also asked for a fee waiver as a media professional given our role in disseminating information to the public.
We are awaiting a response from Perry County regarding this request.
