FOIA Request Sent to Darke County Regarding Freedom of Information Act Logs on October 7, 2024

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was sent to Darke County, Ohio, on October 7, 2024. The request was made by us at Buckeye Reporter, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

We requested the county's FOIA logs from January 1, 2024, until October 7, 2024. The specific fields we asked for in these logs include the requester's name and organization, the content of their request, the date their request was made and completed, and the status of their FOIA request.

As journalists working with Buckeye Reporter, we believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These responsibilities include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.

We are awaiting a response from Darke County regarding this FOIA request. We will continue our commitment to reporting accurate and comprehensive news about local government affairs in Ohio.
