Ohio Lt. Governor Jon Husted has outlined his top priorities for the upcoming administration, emphasizing the need to address inflation, immigration, and policies regarding women’s sports. Husted, who has been a vocal critic of the Biden-Harris administration’s approach, is eager for the incoming Trump administration to take swift action on these issues once the new president is inaugurated in January 2025.

“The voters clearly sent three messages: fix inflation, immigration, and no men playing women’s sports,” Husted wrote in a Nov. 15 social media post on X. “As soon as the president is inaugurated in January, it will be time to deliver.”

Having secured victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election, Donald J. Trump is scheduled to take office on January 20, 2025. As he prepares to assume the presidency, his administration's agenda is expected to prioritize initiatives that were central to his campaign, such as changes in immigration policies, economic reform, and energy independence.

Husted has criticized the Biden-Harris administration's immigration policies, linking a notable increase in Haitian immigrants in Springfield to the administration’s granting of temporary protected status and the implementation of family reunification measures. He argued that these policies have put significant strain on local infrastructure, including schools managing language barriers and healthcare services grappling with rising demand. Additionally, Husted raised concerns about public safety, citing issues with unlicensed drivers and healthcare risks stemming from vaccination gaps. He also expressed his intention to investigate the economic impact of this influx on the community.

In a separate issue, Husted also underscored the importance of integrating automation and technology into the state’s manufacturing sector to maintain global competitiveness. At the Manufacturing Appreciation Luncheon, he stressed that innovations such as robotics, automation, and sensors would improve productivity and bolster Ohio's $114 billion manufacturing industry. Husted also highlighted regional economic initiatives, such as the new Caldwell East of I-77 Business Park, which aims to attract light manufacturing and logistics operations, driving job creation and economic growth in Ohio.

According to his official bio page, Jon Husted was adopted and raised in Northwest Ohio's Williams County. He grew up with a strong foundation in faith, family, and hard work. After excelling as an All-American defensive back and earning advanced degrees from the University of Dayton, Husted contributed to economic development as vice president at the Dayton-Area Chamber of Commerce.

Husted's tenure as Secretary of State was marked by significant improvements in business processes, including reducing start-up costs and eliminating office fees, saving taxpayers millions. As House Speaker, he championed Ohio’s most conservative budget in decades with a historic income tax cut. Elected Lt. Governor in 2018, Husted continues to balance his public service with his roles as a husband to his wife Tina and father to their three children.
