The Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA) has reported several legislative and electoral victories in 2024. Among the key achievements is the passing of Senate Bill 58, which prevents Ohio gun owners from being required to purchase liability insurance for firearms. The bill also prohibits government agencies from imposing fees on firearm possession.

Another significant outcome is the prohibition of merchant codes specifically targeting purchases from firearms retailers, originally part of Senate Bill 148 but incorporated into SB 58. This measure aims to prevent financial companies from tracking gun purchases.

Senate Bill 32 grants civil immunity to individuals acting in self-defense or defending others, providing protection under certain conditions for members and guests of nonprofit organizations.

The association also played a role in halting various anti-gun proposals in the Ohio legislature, including attempts to roll back stand-your-ground laws and introduce red-flag laws and mandatory waiting periods for gun purchases.

Electoral successes were notable as well. The BFA Political Action Committee (PAC) endorsed candidates in 111 races at state and federal levels, securing wins in 89 of them. Donald Trump was among those endorsed by BFA PAC, winning the presidency as the 47th president of the United States. Bernie Moreno's victory over Sherrod Brown helped Republicans gain power in the U.S. Senate.

In addition, all three BFA PAC-endorsed candidates won seats on the Ohio Supreme Court, resulting in a Republican majority that could influence future Second Amendment cases.

BFA also celebrated other achievements such as hosting a seminar with active-shooter expert Ed Monk and commemorating the 20th anniversary of concealed carry legalization in Ohio.

The organization emphasizes its grassroots support base comprised of citizens who value their constitutional rights rather than relying on wealthy activists or corporations for funding.
