Ohio authorities are requesting assistance from the public to identify a man whose body was discovered in Columbus on December 19. Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost and Franklin County Coroner Dr. Nate Overmire have released a post-mortem image to aid in the identification process.
“Take a close look at this photograph to see if you know this man – somebody surely knows him, and his loved ones deserve answers,” Yost stated. He urged anyone who recognizes the individual to contact authorities.
The image, created by a forensic artist from Attorney General Yost’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), is based on photographs taken after the man's death. This effort was initiated at the request of the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
“My office is responsible for identifying any person who is found dead in our jurisdiction,” said Dr. Overmire. “We put ourselves in the situation, as if we lost a loved one. Our goal is to connect unidentified individuals with their loved ones so they can have closure.”
The deceased man was found in a shed behind a home located in the 2200 block of Sullivant Avenue. His age is estimated to be around 50 years old. The man stood 5 feet, 2 inches tall, weighed 154 pounds, and had shaggy dark gray hair with a mustache and beard. There were no visible tattoos, scars, or piercings on his body.
Authorities suspect he may be a Hispanic male known as Pedro; however, his full identity remains unconfirmed by law enforcement. At the time he was found, he was wearing two rosaries around his neck.
BCI’s Criminal Intelligence Unit has also issued a public bulletin regarding this case today.
Anyone with information about this individual is encouraged to contact BCI at 855-BCI-OHIO (855-224-6446) or reach out to the Franklin County Coroner’s Office at 614-525-5290.
Yost emphasized: “We need your help to identify this man…” He added that “BCI provides cutting-edge resources for our partners…”
Dr. Overmire reiterated: “Our goal is to connect those unidentified individuals with their loved ones.” He further appealed: “If anyone has information on this man…”
