Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has put forward a proposal aimed at expanding the workforce as part of the 15-year extension of JobsOhio. While supporting the extension's goal, Yost suggests that JobsOhio should allocate $840 million to initiatives designed to create jobs in high-growth sectors and assist Ohioans needing help re-entering or advancing in the workforce.

The proposed uses for these funds include financial assistance for parents returning to work by addressing child care costs, incentives for long-term unemployed individuals seeking employment, and investments in specialized job training tailored to specific roles and projects.

A meeting between the Attorney General’s Office and JobsOhio was planned for last week to discuss the details of this proposal. However, it was canceled by JobsOhio, which is unable to reschedule before the Controlling Board reviews the extension on Wednesday. In response, Yost has requested that the Controlling Board delay its consideration of the extension during its February 12 meeting.
