Ohio House Bill 15 aims to enhance energy supply affordability

Governor Mike DeWine has signed Ohio House Bill 15 into law, a move that is expected to impact the state's energy sector significantly. Rea S. Hederman Jr., executive director of the Economic Research Center and vice president of policy at The Buckeye Institute, expressed support for the new legislation.

Hederman stated, "With the signing of House Bill 15, Ohio is now a national leader in smart, free-market energy policy." He emphasized that while there is still work to be done regarding cost transparency and consumer protection against high infrastructure costs, the policies promoted by The Buckeye Institute are beneficial for both consumers and businesses. The bill aims to eliminate costly subsidies, improve predictability in utility rate cases, and encourage new energy development.

He further remarked that "House Bill 15 is the best energy policy Ohio has embraced since the end of the 20th century and goes a long way towards guaranteeing reliable and affordable energy for Ohioans and Ohio businesses." He acknowledged all contributors to these policies with appreciation.
