The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) District 1 is inviting public comments on six proposed projects across various counties. The department is adhering to the National Environmental Policy Act and Executive Order 11988 in its planning.

In Defiance County, ODOT plans repairs on the State Route 49 bridge over South Fork Gordon Creek, located between Jericho Road and County Line Road, about 1.5 miles south of Hicksville. Construction will lead to temporary road closures with detours for vehicular traffic. Local access will be maintained throughout the project, which is expected to start in summer 2028. This work will occur in a regulated floodplain, but impacts are anticipated to be minor.

Another project involves repairing the State Route 15 bridge over Lick Creek near Ney, Defiance County. Similar traffic arrangements apply, with construction slated for spring 2028.

In Hardin County, two bridges along State Route 273 near Ridgeway are set for replacement. Temporary closures and detours will be in place during construction starting spring 2028.

Putnam County's State Route 15 will see shoulder, ditch, and guardrail improvements along a stretch north of Continental. Construction is scheduled for spring 2027 with similar traffic management plans.

Van Wert County's project aims to reduce flooding by raising pavement elevation on State Route 49 near Willshire. This work is planned for spring 2028 within a regulated floodplain.

Lastly, Wyandot County's State Route 53 will undergo reconstruction to address flooding issues near McCutchenville starting spring 2028.

Public comments are requested by Friday, June 13, 2025. Written feedback can be sent to Nate Tessler at ODOT District 1 or via email at nate.tessler@dot.ohio.gov. Comments should include project names and PID numbers along with contact information for a response.
