David P. Greulich, a 61-year-old resident of Cleveland, Ohio, has been sentenced to 30 years in prison by U.S. District Judge David A. Ruiz. This follows his guilty plea in March to charges including driving over 400 miles across state lines for illicit sexual conduct with a minor, child exploitation, transporting visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, and possession of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), commonly known as child pornography. Greulich is also required to serve lifetime supervised release after his imprisonment and pay special assessments totaling $35,000. The amount for restitution will be determined later.
Court documents reveal that in February 2024, Greulich began communicating via Snapchat with a 14-year-old girl from Jefferson County, New York. After several weeks of interaction through the app, he traveled from Ohio to New York on April 20, 2024, to pick her up and took her to a hotel where he held her for two days while committing acts of violence and sexual abuse against her. These acts were recorded on a digital device. He made another trip across state lines on May 11, 2024, engaging again in illicit activities with the same victim and capturing video and photographs which he emailed to himself.
During a federal search at Greulich's Cleveland home, authorities seized electronic devices containing CSAM including over 100 images involving the victim alone or with Greulich. Investigators also found 14 sexually explicit videos of the victim stored in his personal cloud account.
The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations' Cleveland Office with help from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office in New York, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
Assistant United States Attorneys Margaret A. Kane and Segev Phillips prosecuted this case.
