Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has expressed his views on the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision in the case of Trump v. CASA. The ruling addressed the issue of whether individual judges have the authority to supervise actions taken by the President and the Executive Branch.
Yost stated, "The Supreme Court has made clear that Congress has not authorized individual judges to supervise the duly elected president and the Executive Branch." He highlighted that today's decision dismisses what he described as a "novel invention" of a universal injunction, noting that such measures were "conspicuously nonexistent for most of our Nation’s history."
He further emphasized the importance of separation of powers within government functions: "Democratically enacted laws cannot be put on hold by judges who think they are kings. Americans’ freedom depends on each part of the government staying in its lane. Legislatures make laws, executive officials enforce them, and courts resolve cases. The power of a court is only the power to offer relief equal to the injury proved by those parties."
